ACCESS STATEMENT

Introduction Slack Cottage is situated in a quiet location, 100yds above the shore of Windermere lake and a 5 minute walk from the picturesque hamlet of High Wray (no facilities). The lane from High Wray to Slack Cottage has magnificent panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. We aim to cater for the needs of all guests in our home. Slack Cottage has two en-suite bedrooms. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any questions please telephone us and we will do our very best to help. Pre-Arrival There is a bus stop approx 25mins walk away with a fairly frequent service The main train station is 30 mins away by car We have a web site with photographs of each guest room Both bedrooms are on the first floor You may contact us via telephone or email Arrival & Car Parking Facilities There is ample private parking in front of the house Assistance with luggage can be arranged We are situated down a private drive, within a ten minute drive of Ambleside and four minutes of Hawkshead. There is a gentle slope to the front gate from the parking area. Once through the gate there are three steps 23cm high to the front door. Main Entrance & Reception There are two steps from the hallway 17cm high into the house Guests are escorted to their room and the facilities explained Public Areas - General (Internal) All public areas have short pile carpets and rugs, are well lit and very tastefully decorated Public Areas - WC Guest bedrooms are en-suite and are on the first floor. Breakfast is served in the dining area which has superb views of Windermere Lake and the mountains of Fairfield, Helvelyn, Loughrigg and Wansfell. Breakfast tables seat 2 and are 72cm high under a space of 90cmx90cm. All chairs are without arms. Special diets are catered for on request Laundry Drying is available upon request Outdoor Facilities Access to the garden is via three steps up 23cm each, along a path which is signposted then three steps down 8cm each, with a gentle slope to the far end of the garden where we provide a table and chairs for our guests to enjoy sunny tranquillity, together with outstanding views. Bedrooms Both bedrooms are on the first floor with access up two steps 17cm onto a small landing with a change in direction and a further 12 steps up of 17cm, with access to each room off of a small landing area. Both rooms have television with remote control, we do not have terrestrial TV so provide DVD players. There are hospitality trays, hairdryers and radio in each room. Two comfortable chairs There is a daytime and night time bell to call for assistance Guests are provided with a room key and front door key Room No 1 has a double bed. Door width 75cm Emergency lamps are provided Room No2 can be a twin or super-king bedded room. Door width 75cm The house has oil fired central heating and room 1 has a heated towel rail in the bathroom. The rooms are spacious with good access to both sides of the beds. Room 1 has a small private corridor to the bathroom Both rooms have short pile carpets and rugs Bathroom, Shower-room &: WC Both rooms have en-suite shower rooms Shower cubicle in Room 1 is a large walk-in shower l42cmx73cm with a step up 26cm high. Room 2 shower cubicle has a step up 23cm high. Wash hand basins are 75cm high with rounded fronts. Toilets are 37cm high with free space to each side. Door width into Room 1 bathroom is 75cm into Room 2 is 68cm Grounds and Gardens Slack Cottage has a large garden which overlooks Windermere lake. It has an extensive grassed area and herbaceous borders. There is a seating area for guests to use where garden furniture is provided. The garden is accessed via steps and is gently sloping so may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties. The house and garden are surrounded by a further 10 acres of our own woodland. Additional Information Secure bike storage is available Cancellation Policy Please note that once you have booked your stay, our agreement is a legally binding contract and any deposit you have paid is non-refundable. If you need to cancel please contact us immediately. For cancellations made up to 7 days before your booking you will not be liable for the total balance. For cancellations made after this time or by failing to take up the booking without cancelling, you will be liable for the total amount of accommodation booked. For this reason you may wish to take out cancellation insurance, which is inexpensive and can be obtained from any good broker.
